wt 263d365640 S00-031: Approve the independently verified Codex host sandbox diagnostic
Changes: Accept S00-031 with independent QA evidence and handoff; confirm the automation guidance matches the bounded host-context diagnostic.
Validation: Approved host stat verified uid1000/mode0700; inner workspace-write probe exited 0 with project write/read/remove and outside write denial EROFS30. make check passed 72 tests; scope, executor message and git diff --check passed. No model or storage task ran; acceptance covers this host/version and one filesystem boundary.

S00-031 independent QA review

Reviewer: auto-qa-56c26814c30b (qa), 2026-10-15. Executor: auto-ci-cd-d45ccd3ee7d6. Decision: approve bounded host-context diagnostic.

Input: master/startup/role/workflow instructions, assigned card and CLI packet, all seven required task inputs, coordinator/executor handoff and evidence, accepted S00-002 ADR and dependency evidence/review/handoff. Output: independent acceptance report for S00-031 only. Acceptance: valid actual socket directory, no-model inner workspace-write project probe and outside denial, unchanged restrictions and no storage/model execution.

Reviewed implementation commit ace4f674d5 and earlier external-input checkpoint 865f1e7 through read-only history and supplied handoff. Executor message accurately describes docs/AUTOMATION.md, evidence, scoped handoff and actual check limitations. Implementation source diff is only docs/AUTOMATION.md; other paths are generated/workflow metadata. Initial working tree was clean. No spec, application module, socket permissions, config or writable roots were changed by this review.

Independent checks and acceptance

  • python3 scripts/tasks.py resume --agent auto-qa-56c26814c30b, show S00-031, and packet S00-031 --agent auto-qa-56c26814c30b: exit 0 each. Resume returned []; assigned reviewer did not claim. Task is review, distinct executor, dependency done.
  • Inspected /tmp/luma-filesystem-sandbox-probe.py before execution; its full text matches executor evidence. It only writes/reads/removes unique synthetic project data and attempts exclusive-create outside project, requiring EROFS/EACCES/EPERM. No subprocess/model/network in probe.
  • Approved outer host execution via exec_command(sandbox_permissions="require_escalated") of the exact Python host wrapper in executor evidence, from project root: exit 0. Wrapper asserts directory ownership/private mode before launching the inner sandbox, uses subprocess timeout=20, and propagates inner exit code. Host result: /tmp/codex-daemon-1000, directory=true, uid=1000=current uid, mode=0o700. Inner command: codex -c 'sandbox_mode="workspace-write"' -c sandbox_workspace_write.network_access=true sandbox -- python3 /tmp/luma-filesystem-sandbox-probe.py. No guard failure; sandbox_exit_code=0.
  • Inner JSON: {"project_write_read_remove":"passed","outside_project_write":"denied","denial_errno":30,"outside_probe_created":false,"uid":1000}. Both positive project probe and negative /home/tola probe passed without expanded writable roots or unrestricted inner execution. Probe ran only inside the inner sandbox, never directly on host.
  • Restricted-shell Python stat: exit 0, same path directory=true, uid1000, mode0o0. Confirms the documented host/sandbox metadata distinction; no socket contents accessed.
  • codex --version: exit 0, codex-cli 0.159.0. Read-only filesystem PATH-alias warning did not prevent output or the successful diagnostic.
  • make check > /tmp/luma-S00-031-qa-check.log 2>&1: exit 0; 72 tooling tests passed in 19.307s, including current fresh prompt budgets. Foundation integrity only.
  • Read-only Git history/diff/status checks and git diff --check: exit 0. Final review metadata whitespace check also passed.

All three acceptance criteria are met for this host/version and bounded filesystem diagnostic. Approved host execution permits initialization of the fresh inner sandbox; it does not remove that sandbox from the synthetic probe. Documentation correctly requires host preflight, timeout, inspected/recoverable temporary script and unchanged socket/root configuration. No additional model or storage task was launched by the reviewed diagnostic or this review. No app readiness, broader sandbox capability, production transport, browser or storage acceptance is claimed. No blocker found.

Coordinator must commit the review transition before launching a fresh process for the original task. Reviewer ends immediately after approve; no downstream task is performed here.
