Jean Delvare 6a7286464d Keep track of configuration file names so that we can later generate
better error reports.

Jean Delvare 3ea4545611 Make it possible to only substitute the bus number of a subset of the
chip entries. This is a prerequisite to add support for multiple
configuration files. Each configuration file can come with its own bus
statements and the bus number substitution should only affect chip
entries from the same configuration file.

except COPYING. Please find a patch below to fix that.

Jean Delvare e13c11d353 Update the comments and symbols in the whole library code to refer to
features and subfeatures as appropriate.

Jean Delvare 96c914bfda Define a separate structure to represent main features. This allows
for faster main features lookup. One side effect of this change is
that subfeatures can no longer have labels nor be ignored. I do not
think that this is a problem in practice, and actually this makes a
lot of sense.

Jean Delvare 79086fb7b8 Rename struct sensors_feature_data to sensors_subfeature. This is a
first step towards a clean separation between main features and
subfeatures.

Jean Delvare 08a686e3cc sensors_feature_data and sensors_chip_feature are now the exact
same structure, so we can get rid of the former for simpler code.

Jean Delvare b836fc0b53 Now that we can deduce the scaling factor required for each feature
from its type, there's no need to store this scaling factor. We can
instead compute it at runtime. This saves some memory (about 10 kB
in my real-world test), and the runtime overhead is totally
negligible.

Jean Delvare 23f4274010 Store the feature list length separately instead of null-terminating
the list. This make it possible to check for out-of-bound indexes
without walking the entire list, so that direct look-ups are safer.

Jean Delvare 20c98f41b7 The compute mapping value is either SENSORS_NO_MAPPING or the same
feature number as the logical mapping. This means that the compute
mapping can be turned into a simple boolean flag. Doing so makes
struct sensors_feature_data smaller, which saves some memory (about
17 kB in my tests.)

Jean Delvare c00e21cf38 Reorder the members of the structures sensors_feature_data and
sensors_bus_id. This prevents wasting space with padding on 64-bit
systems, saving some memory (128 bytes for sensors_bus_id, nothing
yet for sensors_feature_data but it will come later).

Jean Delvare a74addb5d4 Support more bus types (part 2 of 2). Originally libsensors was very
i2c-centric. Make it more neutral so that we can cleanly support
additional bus types such as SPI or One-Wire.

This second part updates sensors_bus to use sensors_bus_id. Thanks
to Mark M. Hoffman for showing me how the configuration file
parser could be modified to support that change.

Jean Delvare 92b5982180 With the new dynamic chip features enumeration code, the sensors_proc_chips
and sensors_chip_features_list arrays tend to track the same information.
So it's much more simple, and more efficient, to have a single array. I
decided to keep sensors_proc_chips, because it already has memory management
helpers. One nice side effect is that the arbitrary limit to the number of
supported chips is now gone. Another one is that some of the memory leaks
were fixed.

Jean Delvare 063f4b91d4 Use complete chip names (prefix + bus + address) as the keys of

makes it impossible to properly support multiple chips with the same prefix
but a different feature set.

Mark M. Hoffman 6968eb16fe The sensors library relied on one structure having an identical layout in
memory as part of another structure. This rather large patch fixes that by
making the smaller piece an explicit member of the larger.

I brought this patch into sync with the latest SVN, and tested it by comparing
objects files from the tree pre- and post- patch.

The remaining 99% of the credit goes to Bob Schlärmann <bob2@dsv.nl> for
creating the original patch... thanks Bob!

Jean Delvare 6270cf381a libsensors: Drop support for algorithm names.
I2C algorithms no longer have names in Linux 2.6, and anyway they are

libsensors. "sensord" and "sensors" no longer do.

Jean Delvare a942af3cfc Allow an alternate sysfs file name for chip features. This is
needed to provide backward compatibility when changes are made
to the sysfs interface (policy change or driver fix).
The first item for which this is needed is VID files. The name
we chose, in0_ref, is bad (because motherboard manufacturers can
use any input for VCore, regardless of the recommendations.
Thus, the new name cpu0_vid is better. Drivers will be updated
        later.

Frodo Looijaard 8199abde46 New sensors.conf keyword 'ignore'
This often-asked for, long-planned and somewhat-forgotten feature
makes it possible to tell libsensors-linked applications (like
the sensors program) that certain features should not be displayed.
This is very nice for things like unconnected temperature sensors
or fans.

Modifications to the library code, to the sensors program and to
the documentation and example sensors.conf file.

Frodo Looijaard 1c12665831 Expanded expressions, slightly new syntax
An expression can now refer to the value it has to compute (@), but also to
other values. This is now perfectly valid as an expression:
  vid + in_min - in_max * 2 / @
Not that this is very sensible, but you get the idea. Please install the
new example config file, or replace all old 'val' occurences with '@'.
