IT8712F so there's not much to do. The most significant difference is that
fan speeds are now reported as 16-bit values, without fan clock dividers.
For this reason, I made the fan_divs optional in sensors. I also made the
fans themselves optional, as I noticed that a number of motherboards don't
use (and don't enable) fan3.
I've made a separate section (chip "it8716-*") in sensors.conf.eg, because
new motherboards tend to have different wirings (e.g. negative voltage
lines are not monitored) so this will make for saner defaults.
Thanks to Stian Oksavik for testing.

Please find attached a patch to support the sis5595 with the new 2.6
driver. It should also add support for displaying in4 with a 2.4 kernel.

Since version 2.9.0, the loadavg in sensord is not scaled anymore. The
manpage has not been modified in consequence, so please find below a
patch to do that.

The problem is that the library returns a negative number if there is an
error, and the error numbers in the .h files are not negative. Thus one
of the operand of the comparison should be negated.

I found a small bug in sensors and sensord when used with a w83781d
chip. On this chip the alarms for temp2 and temp3 are merged. However
that is not handled in sensors and sensord.
Please find attached two patches to fix that, one concerning sensors and
the other one concerning sensord.

Subject: lm_sensors 2.8.2 / DESTDIR / root
The reason for this email is that I always try to avoid running
Makefiles as root, even during 'make install'. Therefore, I
always use the DESTDIR feature, when it's available. Until today,
I always built i2c and lm_sensors by doing
$ make
$ make -i install DESTDIR=/foo
$ cd /foo && su root && fix permissions/ownership && install
The -i flag to make install is a kludge to avoid having to be root
while installing to the DESTDIR, and it's only required because
the files are installed with "-o root -g root". Using the -i
flag is of course not a good idea, since more fatal errors can
easily fly by undetected.
Today, I upgraded to Linux 2.6.0, and tried a similar install
procedure for lm_sensors, except that the make target is now "user"
and the install target is "user_install". I now noticed that the
DESTDIR variable is not used everywhere in "user_install", so I
couldn't use the -i kludge anymore. Instead, I wrote a patch that
removes the "-o root -g root" arguments to install everywhere, and
I also tried to add DESTDIR to all files/directories installed.
(The patch only applies to lm_sensors, not i2c, since only
lm_sensors is required in Linux 2.6.0.)
There's really no reason to say -o root -g root anyway, since if you
do install directly with make install, you have to be logged in as
root, and then the files will get the right ownership by default.
Much of the point of installing to a temporary DESTDIR is that you
don't have to be root, and that you can prepare the installation
by hand. Fixing the ownership is trivial:
chown -R root.root $DESTDIR

/configure database based on detected/configured sensors,
logs libsensors-processed readings to the database, has a
command-line option for generating a basic rrdcgi script.
Removed sensord from all target because it has an external
dependency on librrd.
This just makes using RRD with sensors easier; you don't
need to figure out what sensors are available and configure
the database with computations that are already in
sensors.conf.
To install:
make install-prog-sensord
To create and start logging to database:
sensord --rrd-file /var/log/sensord.rrd
To create a CGI script:
sensord --rrd-file /var/log/sensord.rrd \
--rrd-cgi /var/www/sensord \
> /usr/lib/cgi-bin/sensord.cgi
man sensord for more details.
Kudos to Mark for doing the hard work ;}
