I am trying to create a more-or-less standard documentation format for
doc/chips/* files. I am not quite satisfied with the lm75 and lm78 docs
yet, but it is starting to come. Basically, I want as much information
in it as possible, and to generate most of it automatically. But that is
harder than I though it would be.
Also, a small library bugfix (class problem) and a doc-features fix.

Renamed sensors entry from "SiS 5595 Sensor-*" to "sis5595-*"
Added this name in sensors.conf.eg to use lm78 names for inputs.
Small related document updates.

integrated LM78, so the driver is only a customized copy of lm78.c
This southbridge can also do i2c, but this not enough documented in
the datasheet. So i2c is currently not supported.
Some cosmetic changes for VIA driver and documentation.

lm_sensors2 source tree. Improvements in VIA driver,
now checks revision code and refuses to load the
module if bit_test (in algo-bit) fails.
(Also fixes previous unsuccessfull CVS commit)

Note especially the autoloading of i2c-dev by adding the following line
to /etc/module.conf (or /etc/conf.module):
alias char-major-89 i2c-dev

Nothing really special, but here is the simplest place to keep it, especially
as others may need it too.
git-svn-id: http://lm-sensors.org/svn/lm-sensors/trunk@152 7894878c-1315-0410-8ee3-d5d059ff63e0
* Better VDD internal computation, as described in the data sheet;
* Fixed the config file to reflect the above change;
* The library read the wrong file to get its gl518sm alarm data.

Please read the FAQ to see what is changed; there may be errors or omissions
yet. It is only meant for 2.x versions; the 1.x FAQ should not be deleted
from our homepage yet.

This file consists of two numbers: the first is either 0 (global sound
alarm disable) or 1 (enable), the second is in the same encoding as the
'alarm' file and determines for which alarms the speaker will sound.
The new file was added to the module, the library and the sensors application.
git-svn-id: http://lm-sensors.org/svn/lm-sensors/trunk@112 7894878c-1315-0410-8ee3-d5d059ff63e0
* Fixed FORCE_PIIX4_ENABLE bus (misspelled function call)
* Added Kyösti's mail about the VIA chipset to the doc directory, as
temporary placeholder
git-svn-id: http://lm-sensors.org/svn/lm-sensors/trunk@78 7894878c-1315-0410-8ee3-d5d059ff63e0
* Alarms may now work (sound signal disabled, though)
* Revision 0x80 should be recognized and handled correctly
* If fan unconnected, it should show 0 instead of -1 now
Note that this driver will not support GL520SM chips; that chip is different
enough that it deserves its own driver.
git-svn-id: http://lm-sensors.org/svn/lm-sensors/trunk@61 7894878c-1315-0410-8ee3-d5d059ff63e0
To be done: support for GL518SM revision 0x80 and GL520SM
Kyösti, if you have some time soon, could you please test it?

Object files for executables (as opposed to modules) will now use the .ro
extension; their dependency file is a .rd file. Currently, this affects only
the i2c/eeprom/eeprom program. but in the future, there will be more
executables generated.

See doc/sysctl for an explanation why it is needed.
Also fixed two very small cleanup bugs in lm75/lm78, which would probably be
impossible to trigger anyway, but still.

Yet more documentation updates, and a quick Makefile update to install all
include files correctly.
git-svn-id: http://lm-sensors.org/svn/lm-sensors/trunk@50 7894878c-1315-0410-8ee3-d5d059ff63e0
* LM75 temperature limits initializations were switched
* LM78 VID readings were off by a factor 100
* New bit-mask constants in sensors.h for LM78 alarm field

If people want access to the CVS archive, you can send them this document,
instead of having to type it all over again each time.
git-svn-id: http://lm-sensors.org/svn/lm-sensors/trunk@25 7894878c-1315-0410-8ee3-d5d059ff63e0
* Some Makefile changes. doc/makefiles documents most of them.
* The lm78 module now compiles, but it will still crash.
* New module sensors, with general code usable by chip driver modules
* i2c-core: added function i2c_adapter_id(), which returns a (low)
unique i2c-bus ID.
* lm78.h stuff moved into lm78.c or sensors.h
git-svn-id: http://lm-sensors.org/svn/lm-sensors/trunk@19 7894878c-1315-0410-8ee3-d5d059ff63e0
Please examine the Makefile before extending it, as its approach is
completely new. It should be very modular now, though. Makefile fragments
are called Module.mk.
The Module.mk in i2c does not handle dependencies yet.
There are some patches to bit-mb.c to make it compile with 2.0 kernels.
They have been sent to Simon Vogl (author of the i2c module).

README.directories contains a description of the directories I created;
read it if you have questions about them.
doc/design is the design document I sent before through email.
doc/useful_addresses.html contains links to I2C, SMBus and sensors
information.
Note that we may have to change minor i2c things, like Makefiles; this
is why I put it in the archive too (we should, of course, send important
changes to Simon Vogl).
